For a clay pigeon shooter, every shot counts. Instinct must take over, and every facet of the gun's design must complement the shooter's performance. So it's no surprise that every serious clay shooter chooses an over-and-under. For the game shot, however, the choice has not been so easy. Few classic gunmakers have had the confidence to venture into the realm of over-and-under design, and the results have usually been exotic, mechanically complicated and prohibitively expensive until now.
Our new Imperial is, we believe, a breakthrough in English gunmaking. It combines the slender elegance and superb workmanship of a classic game gun with the ease of handling and point ability that has made the over-and-under the first choice of every serious clay shooter. When we designed the Imperial, we set out to dispel the myths surrounding over-and-under game guns, as well as creating a supremely elegant and impeccably performing weapon. We simplified the design, using a reliable trigger-plate mechanism. We refined the lines, slimming down the action. We built in all the refinements you would expect to find on an English game gun: best walnut stock, hand-cut chequering, immaculately finished metalwork and superb engraving.
Last of all, we worked on the price. Because of the way we combine modern manufacturing techniques with the best of traditional craftsmanship, we can save costs in areas that don't affect the final result, while lavishing attention on those areas that do. The result is a gun in the best Churchill tradition - superb in the field, immaculate in appearance and at under £25,000, it's more affordable than many side-by sides and more than a match for them in performance.
The Imperial epitomises Churchill's philosophy - commitment to technological innovation, coupled with traditional craftsmanship and attention to detail. This allows us to make guns that complement and enhance every shooter's natural ability, while placing them firmly within the reach of every serious shooter.
